The Grade 3 OJCS class participated in Turnbull’s annual Soccer Jamboree on Wednesday, September 27th. We created two squads for this tournament and competed against several private schools in Ottawa, including; Turnbull, Joan of Arc and Elmwood Academy. 

We conducted a couple of practice sessions in order to learn about the different positions on the soccer pitch and some basic strategies to prepare for the competition. The 3A class and 3B class also played their own ‘Friendly’ on Tuesday. 3A was victorious by a score of 3-1.

The weather was perfect for the Jamboree and both OJCS teams went undefeated with a 6-0 record and only conceded one goal throughout the morning. More importantly, this was their first chance to proudly wear the OJCS Rams jersey and display strong sportsmanship towards their opponents while also learning about the beautiful game. 

We very much appreciate all of  our parent volunteers for helping make this happen and providing transportation and displaying school spirit at the games. Many thanks to Turnbull School and their athletic coordinator, Yvon Carriere for organizing this annual get–together. 

Students are looking forward to continuing their soccer unit in Phys-Ed with Mr. C as well as writing about their Jamboree experience in their weekly Cahier d’écriture as part of the Plan de Travail. A list of 30 soccer related terms have been posted to the blog in order to help students with their writing. Grade 3 hopes to have another opportunity to sport the blue and white this year.
