Monsieur P’s Phys.Ed Update

We have been having lots of fun in our Phys Ed. classes.

Our classes always begin with a few laps around the gym which are followed by some body-weight exercises in the circle.

Students have started to lead the exercises including, planks, push-ups, dips and lunges. We will usually focus on upper body, lower body and then an abdominal exercise. Our main goal is to keep proper form in order to maximize endurance and strength and reduce the risk of injury.

We will then usually play a game of low-organization, these are meant to be activities of short duration such as; Gaga Ball, Elimination or Hula Hoop Tic-Tac-Toe. These are excellent ways to encourage teamwork and fair play.

We will then complete a drill which is based on the day’s main sport. These drills are meant to increase speed and agility while also focusing on building skill.

Students have completed units on some of the more common sports such as; soccer, floor hockey and basketball. We have also been trying to increase the variety of our activities by ordering new equipment and playing games like Polo Ball and Pickle Ball.

Our weekly ‘Trio Challenge’ involves playing 3 different sports with a ten minute time limit for each game. The format is a best of 3 series which keeps students engaged until our final sport.

Here are some pictures and videos from some of our January sports.
